Luke Combs makes Billboard Country Airplay Chart history

Luke has earnt his 17th consecutive number one single in the process for "Love You Anyway" and "Fast Car" returns to number two making him the first artist ever in the charts history to simultaneously hold the #1 and #2 spots.

Country music sensation Luke Combs continues to make history in the music industry as he achieves a groundbreaking feat on the Billboard Country Airplay chart. Combs has clinched the top two positions on the chart simultaneously, becoming the first artist to achieve this distinction without another featured artist since the chart's inception in 1990. This remarkable achievement coincides with Combs' latest single, "Love You Anyway," reaching the #1 spot this week, marking his 17th consecutive #1 hit—an unprecedented accomplishment in itself. Meanwhile, Combs' rendition of Tracy Chapman's Grammy Award-winning song, "Fast Car," secures the #2 position on the chart, having previously held the top spot earlier this summer.

"Love You Anyway" ascends to #1 just four weeks after "Fast Car" dominated the chart, setting a record for the fastest return to the top for an artist with a different song.

Combs' recent success includes a record-breaking run for "Fast Car," which spent five consecutive weeks atop the Billboard Country Airplay chart and also claimed the #1 spot on the Hot AC chart, making Combs the first male solo artist to achieve this dual chart-topping feat. Additionally, "Fast Car" currently stands at #2 on Billboard's all-genre Hot 100 chart, has achieved 2x Platinum certification, and has amassed over 512 million global streams to date.

Combs' dominance on the radio airwaves adds yet another milestone to his extraordinary career. He is set to headline 25 stadium shows across the United States in 2024 as part of his "Growin' Up and Gettin' Old Tour." The tour includes two nights at New Jersey's MetLife Stadium, performances at Los Angeles' SoFi Stadium, Jacksonville's EverBank Stadium, Santa Clara's Levi's Stadium, Houston's NRG Stadium, and Phoenix's State Farm Stadium, among others. Special guests for Friday night shows include Cody Jinks, The Avett Brothers, Charles Wesley Godwin, Hailey Whitters, and The Wilder Blue, while Saturday shows will feature Jordan Davis, Mitchell Tenpenny, Drew Parker, and Colby Acuff.

Combs' 2024 tour follows his record-breaking World Tour, which spans three continents, 16 countries, and 44 shows. This tour, the largest ever for a country artist, has shattered records globally.

The country superstar's latest album, "Gettin' Old," is garnering critical acclaim as a companion to his highly-praised 2022 record, "Growin' Up." Released earlier this spring via River House Artists/Columbia Nashville, "Gettin' Old" has been described by The New York Times as "grounded in country, complete with fiddle fills, but it’s also pointed toward a wide pop audience." Billboard praised his "electrifying-yet-earthy voice soundtracking this time in his life as a husband, father, and entertainer at the top of his game," while American Songwriter declared, "He’s a rock star at this point." Produced by Combs, Chip Matthews, and Jonathan Singleton, "Gettin' Old" is Combs' fourth full-length album following "Growin' Up," "What You See Is What You Get," and "This One’s For You."

Furthermore, Combs has recently earned 22 new RIAA certifications, including 6x Platinum for "This One’s For You," 4x Platinum for "What You See Is What You Get," Platinum for "Growin’ Up," and Gold for "Gettin’ Old." His hit songs such as "Hurricane," "When It Rains It Pours," "She Got The Best Of Me," and "Beer Never Broke My Heart" have achieved multi-Platinum certifications.

As a Grand Ole Opry member and a multi-award-winning artist, Combs has also teamed up with Opry Entertainment Group to create a massive multi-level entertainment complex in downtown Nashville, slated to open in the summer of 2024.

Luke Combs continues to make his mark on the country music scene, setting records and solidifying his position as one of the genre's most prominent and influential artists.
